Body Rules la collection en collaboration de Girl Crush et Claudie Mercier

Body Rules a collaboration of Girl Crush and Claudie Mercier

At Girl Crush we have always been a big fan of Claudie's content, her personality and of course the way she shares her values, which join us.

Since the very beginning of Girl Crush, Claudie has encouraged and supported us with each collection. So one day in a team brainstorm, the idea came to us: a collection with Claudie!!

Then a year of work later, the collection will finally be released on November 15, 2022.

So we decided to give you a little interview with Claudie, to help you discover more about the creative process behind the BODY RULES collection.

WHAT MADE YOU INTERESTED IN COLLABORATING WITH GIRL CRUSH?

I have been wearing Girl Crush kits for almost 3 years and I have always loved the ''fits'' and the values advocated by Girl Crush. I think it's nice to see women entrepreneurs who have created a great Quebec company focused on comfort. Girl Crush is definitely a crush for me since day 1.

HOW DID YOU FIND THE THEME OF THE COLLECTION?

I started by creating a moodboard inspired by what I wanted to do. I wanted the collection to be unisex & I wanted it to be about self-love. Being very insecure myself, I sometimes have difficulty accepting changes in my body.

So I wanted to create a collection that would make the person who wore it happy. We therefore wanted to create a magnificent artwork of a nutrient table, but in the form of “worth facts” to remind all the people who wear the collection, that they are GORGEOUS no matter what!

On the left sleeve, you can also read '' You got this '' an expression that I say all the time to the people around me and which for me means everything!

WHAT WAS IMPORTANT TO YOU IN THIS COLLECTION?

Make people feel comfortable. There is nothing more important to me than comfort when shopping for tunes. In my opinion, comfort = feeling good in your body and that is definitely the path I wanted to take for this collection.

WHAT DOES BODY RULES MEAN TO YOU?

In a word: Uniqueness. Why uniqueness? Because each person is unique and beautiful in their own way. Society's beauty standards can affect anyone, it affects me, but the goal of body rule is to feel your best in the collection no matter your gender, your weight, your ethnicity, your sexual orientation, etc. I tell you, you are perfect in your imperfections.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE RELIEF AS A FOUNDATION?

I have been dealing with anxiety since I was very young and my mental health has always been fragile.

Relief is a foundation that helps people affected by anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder. Donating $2 per order to a foundation is simply necessary, especially when it is related to mental health (which can sometimes be neglected). It has always touched me deeply and it is thanks to foundations like this that people receive the help they so desperately need. It's just a way of thanking them for saving lives, because yes it saves lives.

Again, Body Rules is here to remind you to take care of your head, it's so important.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT SOCIETY, SOCIAL MEDIA AND SELF ACCEPTANCE?

I think anyone compares themselves, it's human and normal. On the other hand, there is a difference between comparing oneself and wanting to change everything at home to please society.

The truth is that there will always be beautiful and gorgeous people around us, so we might as well accept each other for all that dislikes about ourselves instead of hating each other. On social networks, there are more and more people who dare to show themselves despite their differences and I find that wonderful. I think it's nice to have different models so that the next generation doesn't have one way of seeing the famous standards. So show people your true self and embrace yourself because there is no one like you.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY TO YOUR 5-YEAR-OLD?

Quite simply: BE YOURSELF! We try so hard (too often) to please people who, like us, compare themselves and the truth is that there is no one around you who does not compare. Be vulnerable, accept having low confidence, it's NORMAL. But the most important thing is to love yourself, because you are the person with whom you will spend the most time in your life. Imagine spending 24/7 with someone you don't like? Give yourself the gift of accepting the reflection you see in the mirror and embrace all the little details that make you, YOU!
